The Side Room started 7 years as a passion project. There was no competitor to want to out do or money wanting to be made off of it. It was simply a space where Rey Aguilar could showcase the music he loved in the community he lived it. Since then it has become a staple in the McAllen Downtown scene.
I remember when it was first starting, they'd say "oh we should go to that room at Suerte with the cool music" but little did people suspect that it would grow to become THE house underground scene in the Rio Grande Valley. It was definitely inspiring checking it out this past weekend and seeing how many people support house music in the valley.
