Ubbi Dubbi Festival took place May 25th and 26th in Fort Worth, TX at Panther Island. Its line up featured some of dance music's leading acts like Afrojack, Alison Wonderland, Galantis, Alleycvt, and Svdden Death just to name a few.
We had our official bass head correspondent Mariah Bowie aka hurricaneraver on the ground to give us all the details of what went down that weekend.
🔹How did you like the festival’s overall layout?
🌀Panther Island Pavilion is located on the Trinity river featuring downtown Fort Worth as the background of Ubbi's stage. The main stages were in the front and the back with the Zoom Room stage in between. What was different about this venue was the large grassy hill which was perfect seating to see Ubbi's Stage, hear the music and see the fireworks. Majority of the vendors, food and activities were along the walkway between the main stages. The layout was easy to navigate because it essentially was a straight line.
🔹What did you think of the art installations, vendors, and activities in the festival?
🌀One of my favorite installations/activities was the outlet mental health. They not only provided a safe space for those that may become overwhelmed/overstimulated during the festival but they also provided an environment to reflect and set intentions for this experience. I do believe this is very important for our community to break out of the bender/party mindset and add more meaning to our experiences. Bang was handing out free energy drinks at their vendor installation which I as a caffeine fiend greatly appreciate. BeatBox also had kandi making and other activities at their beat bus. The stand out vendor had to be kinky earrings, I have never seen so many options for some new silly rave earrings at a festival.
🔹What were some of the sets that you watched and what did you think of them?
🌀The two stand out sets for the weekend for me were Rzrkt b2b Vastive, their onstage chemistry during the set was immaculate. Plus I never knew Vastive was capable of making heavy metal vocals, it was awesome. Their mosh pits were both wild and silly the entire set. From backflips to shoulder rides to high knees the set would energize any bass head. The second had to be Svdden Death Voyd set, which was the first Voyd of the year. For those that don't know a Voyd set tends to be a bit darker and slightly more demonic then a standard Svdden Death set. The production was INSANE! We all knew the fireworks would go off during the final set which anyone who saw Austin and I kept trying to predict when they would go off with our cameras, which was hilarious. What we didn't know is that Svdden Death would rise out of the DJ booth and hang suspended while huge bat wings that took up the entire length of the stage would emerge! Definitely something out of nightmares. His music remained stuck in my head for days after the festival. It was the best Svdden Death set I have seen.

🔹How did you like the Texas crowd?
🌀I have previously attended one other festival in Texas but this crowd not only was built different to handle the heat and humidity we encountered but I noticed throughout the festival the crowd was (most of the time) the embodiment of PLUR (Peace Love Unity Respect). I watched mosh pits unfold and if anything was dropped from phones to pashminas to even shoes! All items were returned to their original owners post moshing. At one point a guy had obtained a bag of ice and was passing it out to other festival goers. Lastly I cannot forget the Oklahoma/Texas rave fam that saw me sitting day one and decided I was now with them. Seriously they helped make the first day go a lot smoother. Made some more friends with the dandelion totem and the "brother, may I have some loops?" flag. So if you are reading this, thank you for adopting me. I am at the point in my rave journey where I am ok with being alone but it's always nice when you can make some new friends too.
🔹Anything that stood out to you?
🌀THREE WATER STATIONS!!! Really impressed that the festival had three water stations (one near every stage) for festival goers. The workers also were assisting in moving the lines along. Speaking of water staff was handing out water bottles at the rail which was SPECTACULAR. It's like they knew bass heads would not want to leave a set just to get some water, the crowds were also willing to pass them back as far as they needed to go. There was also a significant amount of shaded areas provided by the festival which is very important during those 98 degree, high humidity days. Also the shaded hammock sections were also a plus.

🌀 This festival was overall an amazing experience from the people, the venue location, the vibes and of course the music. If you identify as a bass head this festival is for you no doubt and should be on your list of festivals to hit next year!
