The rave scene really flourished in the late 80’s and early 90’s. A place where self-expression of any form is encouraged. It’s a place where it doesn’t matter where you come from, what religion you practice, how much money you make, your gender, your sexuality, young or old…you won’t be judged or criticized. Everyone is just there to dance and have fun. It makes sense that a culture founded on P.L.U.R. (Peace, Love, Unity, Respect) would blossom coming from the very divisive and tumultuous era that was the 70’s and early 80’s.

This form of self-expression is most visible in rave fashion. Because it is a very liberating culture, you don’t need to dress a certain way. The rave culture and its fashion have come a long way and have now become part of pop culture. I want to share this vlog by Emma Kapotes to show what I mean. She talks about current trends in festival fashion and where she thinks 2021 is taking them.

Emma Kapotes is a raver, influencer, content creator, and festival enthusiast who has built a very strong following over the years. She is also host of her very own podcast, Rave Culture Cast. I’ll go ahead and list her various social media platforms so you can check them out…
