Since I started Soundhaven I’ve gotten the opportunity to talk to so many different people pursuing a career within the Electronic/Dance Music industry and on distinct stages in their journey. Whether it be in areas like photography, djing, videography, graphic design, lighting, stage production, producers, dancers, influencers, etc, etc, etc (this list can literally go on forever) they all just want to make a living doing what they love. So, I believe it is important to share the story of people in the industry that are further along in their journey for the purpose of motivating that one person that’s thinking about getting started on their dreams or for that person hustling trying to make it happen and unsure if it’ll be worth it in the end.

One of the stories that I wanted to share is Alex Lauter’s story. I had come across his Instagram account and noticed he was here in Texas and already had some songs on Spotify that sounded pretty badass, so I reached out to him. Cut to a couple of months later, he was inviting me to check out his Record Label’s 3rdAnniversary party in Houston. Once I got there, I was taken back by the level of production him and the Lauterhaus team were able to put together that I knew I had to share his story.

So I'd like to introduce Alex Lauter, owner and founder of Lauterhaus Record Label.

Where are you from? I’m originally from Germany, but have also had the opportunity to live in Texas, Switzerland, Dubai, & Egypt for my 25 years so far. Where did you grow up? I spent the majority of my adolescences in Switzerland & went to high school in Dubai! Crazy city! Who are your inspirations? Favorite dj? My favorite DJ’s are Swedish House Mafia.

What age did you start?

I started playing the Piano when I was 6 years old & have since then also learned how to play many other instruments - I would say I started diving into the “DJ” route around age 17/18.

What did the hustle look like from the beginning? I knew that what I was signing up for would be a very long road, however when I moved to College Station to attend Texas A&M, I would already start playing all the Northgate clubs on the weekends & a lot of frat parties who gave me the chances to open up for many famous artists. What was what you consider your first break in the industry? When I was still in High School in Dubai my friend Aly & I won a contest that let us open for Rita Ora at a festival called Redfest! The past couple years have mainly been about building my brand more & honing the “Alex Lauter” sound.

Celebrating 3 years of Lauterhaus, how did the label come about? What kind of artists are on the label? It’s funny because an old friend (the rapper T-Wayne), used to come over & always call our house the “Lauterh-house”…so that’s how the name came about haha! Since the past 3 years and over 40 records released now, it has everything on it Techno, Bigroom, Tech-House, Bass-house & even a couple other genres on some of the huge Remix EP’s! The artists on it are also a lot of my best friends here in Houston who you’ll find me spending countless hours in the studio with at any given time.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? I see myself having multiple big records which enable me to travel & tour the world playing huge concerts. Where I’ll be living I really don’t know!

What’s one piece of advice you now know that you wish you knew then? Work on small habits & discipline. Take time for yourself daily, to meditate, to balance yourself within & to stay grounded. Everything else will fall into place then. Check out the clip and photo gallery of the Lauterhaus 3 Year Anniversary Party that took place in Houston, TX on April 10th, 2021 below...
