Bass Camp took place this past weekend in Reno, NV. This was a 3 day, multi-venue festival that featured names like Deadmau5, Madeon, A-Trak, Buku, Destructo and many many more. Soundhaven had the opportunity to send out our now official Bass Correspondent Mariah Bowie aka HurricaneRaver.
Check out what she had to say about the festival and go through the photo gallery.

1) how was it navigating the different venues?
The city of Reno is known for being the biggest little city in the world. The only time I took an Uber was to get to and from the airport. I stayed at the Renaissance in Reno and the most I had to walk was 3/4 of a mile to the J resort for the pool party and wristband pickup. But the Virginia Street Brew House and Cargo Concert Hall were about a ten minute walk from the hotel.
2) How was the layout of the festival? Was it easy navigating the different areas?
The festival is held in Winfield Park which is located on a small island in the Truckee River, so if you are off the island
you are out of the festival. It was very easy to navigate, there were two MainStages and the Giving Tree Stage which was a silent disco which had 2-3 DJs playing on different stations.
3) what were some of the vendors type that were there?
In terms of vendors you had a hair braiding and makeup, someone selling crystals, merch booth (where I definitely did not buy a Blanke jersey and a Subdocta pashmina), there was a photo opportunity with Instax, I almost fell victim to buying a sloth backpack and a bucket hat and kandis world. Here are some video clips of that
There were also food trucks: one was a build your own ice cream popsicle you picked the base ice cream then what it was dipped in and then the candy or cookies to sprinkle on the outside. There was a taco truck, bbq, potstickers and pizza. The tacos were very good because if I can't have a festival glizzy 🌭 I want some tacos 🌮 😂.
4) Something that stood out from this festival compared to others.
Something that definitely stood out to me was, it's a city fest but the way everything was spaced out in terms of time it felt similar to a camping fest. So Day 1 was broken up into 4 different venues in Reno. Cypress, Cargo Concert Hall, Virginia Street Brewhouse and Dead Ringer. The earliest set started at 8 pm and the latest set went to about 2-2:30. So I was at Cargo Concert Hall and that ended after midnight, if I was being a full blown hurricane I could have picked another venue to stay out longer but I chose to do the responsible thing and upload pictures and go to bed. Day 2 was the main festival day starting at 2 pm and ended after 11 pm then the afters started at 10 pm and one went until 3 am. I attended the after at Virginia Street Brewhouse (I was played why did I want house music 😂) but there were afters going on at Dead Ringer and Cypress too.
Then Day 2 also had a pool party at the j resort that started at 12 pm so I guess if you were a wild turkey you could be raving from 12 pm to 4 am 😂
Day 3 was the pool party at the J resort that went from 12 pm to 6 pm then the closing party once again was at the Brewhouse and that started at 9 pm and ended after 12 pm. It was nice to easy your way in and then have a pool party and then a closing party (spaced out a bit to eat dinner and take a nap) to finish the festival.
5) what are some cons or wish would’ve been a little different from this event?
I would say my first con is pretty standard there should have been one more water station and another spot for portapotties. During the day there were no lines but night was a completely different story and they were placed right along the walkway from MainStage to the dancetronauts stage which got to be a little chaotic. That being said MainStage got really packed and crowded for Madeon and Deadmau5 and due to the placement it got difficult to maneuver meanwhile I could walk right up to the rail at the Dancetronauts stage for their sets. The Dancetronauts were great however if there were two headliners playing at the same time the crowd would have been split up a little more and not all congested at the main stage.
